Code of Conduct

The Alternative Investment Association (AIA) is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct within the alternative investment industry. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and guidelines for all members, employees, volunteers, and stakeholders associated with the AIA. By adhering to this Code, we create an environment that promotes trust, fairness, and respect for all individuals involved in the industry.

Compliance with Laws and Regulations: All members of the AIA shall comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards governing the alternative investment industry. Members are expected to maintain a comprehensive understanding of these laws and regulations and act in accordance with them.
  • Ethical Conduct: Members of the AIA shall conduct themselves ethically and with integrity in all professional interactions. This includes:
    • Honesty and Transparency:
      • Providing accurate and truthful information in all communications.
      • Disclosing any conflicts of interest that may arise in professional relationships.
      • Safeguarding the confidentiality of sensitive information and respecting privacy rights.
    • Fair Dealing:
      •  Treating all individuals and entities with fairness, respect, and courtesy.
      •  Avoiding any actions that may unfairly disadvantage or harm others.
      •  Competing fairly and ethically in the marketplace without engaging in deceptive practices.
    •  Avoidance of Insider Trading:
      •  Strictly adhering to laws and regulations regarding insider trading.
      • Refraining from using material non-public information for personal gain or sharing such information with others.

Professionalism and Accountability: Members of the AIA shall uphold the highest standards of professionalism in their interactions and responsibilities. This includes:

  • Professional Competence:
    • Maintaining and enhancing professional knowledge and skills through continuous learning and development.
    • Engaging in responsible and informed decision-making based on relevant expertise.
  • Respectful and Inclusive Workplace:
    • Creating an inclusive and diverse work environment free from discrimination, harassment, or bullying based on race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, or other protected characteristics.
    • Respecting and valuing different perspectives and promoting a culture of inclusivity.
  • Responsible Use of Resources:
    • Using organizational resources responsibly and for the intended purposes.
    • Reporting any misuse or misappropriation of resources promptly.

Compliance with AIA Policies and Guidelines: Members of the AIA shall comply with all AIA policies, guidelines, and procedures. These may include but are not limited to membership-related policies, events, content creation, and financial matters. Compliance with these policies ensures consistency and fairness in the AIA's operations.

  • Reporting Violations and Concerns: Any member who becomes aware of a potential violation of this Code of Conduct or any other AIA policy is encouraged to report it promptly and in good faith. The AIA will ensure the confidentiality and protection of individuals who report such concerns. Reports can be made to the designated individual or department responsible for handling code of conduct violations.
Consequences of Violations: Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to warnings, reprimands, suspension, or termination of membership or employment. The AIA reserves the right to take appropriate action based on the severity and nature of the violation. The AIA's Code of Conduct is a fundamental guide for all individuals associated with the organization to uphold ethical conduct, professionalism, and integrity within the alternative investment industry. Adhering to this Code contributes to a positive and trusted industry reputation while promoting the AIA's mission and goals.
